Who We are
We are a Christ-centered, outward-focused, forward-thinking community of faith, made up of grace-filled people who work with others to make a difference in the world. In these ways, we express and live out of our vibrant identity as United Methodists.
what we do
We aim to cultivate people who follow Jesus in the sixteen squares of Blacksburg and beyond. This spiritual journey always involves growth. As expressed in the mission of The United Methodist Church, “Our purpose is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
What we value
Embracing the whole person.
From a place of grace-based acceptance, we invite people to receive Christ’s healing of heart, mind, body, and spirit.
Engaging the community & the world.
We seek to show up to our neighbors and actively serve wherever Christ is calling us to join him in the world.
Engendering empathy for all.
Following Christ’s call to bridge human divides, we strive to love and honor people of all generations, ethnicities, backgrounds, and cultures.
Experiencing authenticity.
Through a relationally-focused ministry, we intend to be open, honest, and vulnerable with one another, knowing Christ uses such robust community for our own growth.
Experimenting creatively.
Recognizing the frontier of a post-Christian society, we exercise creativity—trying new ways of doing ministry, giving permission to fail, and trusting the Holy Spirit to guide our future.
