Church St Christmas Offering
The Need: Money to purchase meat for 400 food insecure families
(1100 people/month) in Blacksburg and McCoy. This need is projected
to increase in 2025.
The Cost: Meat costs around $4000 per month. To reduce cost, the
Food Pantry purchases chickens in bulk and repackages them saving
over $36,000 a year. They plan to begin repackaging hamburger in the
same way since receiving a grant to purchase a walk-in freezer. This is
projected to save an additional $10,000 per year.
The History: Blacksburg United Methodist Church has a
long history with the Interfaith Food Pantry of over 36 years! We are a founding church partner of the pantry.
